Let's try this

If we combine climbing with Capoeira and yoga we can do this. Who wants to try Free Running or Parkour next week?

OK, I can't help but editorialize. After watching the Capoeira & the Parkour videos, I'm thinking no one doing these activities is out of shape. So why don't more kids in the US do these things to stay in shape?

To answer my own question, here are some reasons:
It's hard, it's dangerous - esp Parkour. Someone would sue if they got hurt. I can only imagine the liability of kids trying to kick each other (altho Karate and other martial arts are taught). So Capoeira would be easier to teach here than Parkour. The more I think about Parkour, the less I want kids to be able to climb bldgs or jump off roofs - esp. if I'm paying the insurance for that (either medical or liability.) Never mind, I think I figured it out.

My son Levi is into free running, pretty much skateboardiing with out a board or as I call it "running around like an idiot" One day we were walking Downtown St. Paul and he decided to leap down 2 flights of stairs! Scared the poo out of me.
You are up early, I bet that Aaron just went to bed. See you noonish.

Is there a way that we can set up a redundant, equalized, bomb-proof top rope anchor system for this parkour stuff? I noticed on all of the videos on youtube about parkour that all of the participants were under the age of 15. I think that's because all of the old people doing this stuff died. "Running around like an idiot"- I like it!

I feel a little funny saying this after all your comments...but that looks fun! I've been doing this in my dreams since I was a kid. But I don't think I would show my face either.

Aaron, I think you solved the problem of why everyone is so young in this video - no one made it out of the emergency room older than 15.

Isn't there a saying about flying? "There are old pilots and bold pilots. But no old, bold pilots."

So...ok have we switched from "Let's try This" to Let's not?
