Focus on the Process

The Warrior’s  Way web site has an exercise to help the climber focus on the process of climbing, not just reaching the top. Full explanation here.

“Exercise 1 for routes of intermediate difficulty:
Take the end goal away: You can have your belayer instruct you how to climb. Have your belayer tell you when to stop and rest, to climb up, climb down, or anything that keeps your mind unsure of what will happen next. Doing this will force you to focus attention on the actual climbing processes (BERP) so you can be as comfortable as possible.”
