The differences are vast. I've been thinking, it might have been easier to accept old school mountaineering concepts if I was not a climber, with safe climbing practices and friends. Here are a couple of things that I learned about moutaineering. Here are the facts as I see them.
*Speed is safety. That is why we didn't set any anchors, except the one cam on Wall Street.
*If you are belayed while rock climbing, and you fall, you probably won't get hurt. If you are belayed while mountaineering and you fall, you might not die.
